Hi, I'm Lizzie...

I have worked in mental health for over 10 years and have worked with children and young people for over 20 years-which I love to do! As well as Calms Souls Therapy, I also work as a Mental Health Practitioner at a local college and also in A and E at NGH for individuals admitted with a mental health crisis.

I am caring, empathic and understanding with a genuine need to help others. I work with a diverse number of young people with a vast variety of mental health difficulties and in this fast paced, modern world I strive to teach young people how to cope with day to day challenges and to teach them the importance of self-care and a peaceful mind. 

I have learnt that emotions significantly influence our physical health and positive wellbeing can only be achieved through the understanding and care of the body as a whole. This means recognising that mental, physical and emotional/spiritual health are completely and deeply interconnected. All of these aspects affect our overall health, rooted in the belief that being unwell in one aspect affects you in others. We are all more than just our thoughts! (We all know that anxious feeling in our tummy at times!). The link between mind, body and soul is scientific fact but it is only recently that people are starting to expand their thoughts on holistic therapies, treating the body as a whole rather than just the symptoms.

 

 

My approach is a blend of person-centred, CBT and holistic and is tailored to each individual young persons unique difficulties. I provide counselling, as well as teaching mindfulness and coping strategies to provide a positive mindset at affordable prices. As well as this I teach the importance of self-care and alternative treatments such as yoga, guided meditations, yoga nidra and Ayurvedic breathing techniques.
